The Fall Wedding Season

This fall, we’ve had the honor to film several events, and unfortunately this means I’ve fallen way behind on this blog! On October 13th, we were there to witness the union of Kristine and Thorin in beautiful Malibu Lake, CA. They had a short, touching ceremony, followed by a relaxed celebration. The reception included a Russian tradition where the Bride and Groom acted out a scene of them “playing house,” which was fun for all of the guests to watch. On October 14th, we filmed another wedding in Malibu at the Calamigos Ranch, which was such a gorgeous location. The ceremony between Beth and Christopher took place outdoors, under a canopy of trees, and looked just like the wedding in Twilight (don’t ask me how I know that). Their reception was held inside and came complete with a candy bar, wedding cake, and even a bottle of hot sauce for a wedding favor to each guest! The following weekend, we had a destination wedding in Las Vegas! This was a fun chance for us to get out of town and film in some new locations! Diwata and Jeffrey held their ceremony at the Guardian Angel Cathedral right on the Las Vegas strip. It was a beautiful church, and had just a hint of Vegas in the interior style, but without a single slot machine inside 🙂 They held their reception at an intimate and posh private club inside the Wynn Casino. The best part of filming was walking through the casino with the bride and groom and narrowly avoiding casino security 🙂

Our busy fall schedule continued in November. I had the chance to film a Bar Mitzvah on November 3rd at the American Jewish University campus in Simi Valley. It was a very emotional ceremony and you could tell how proud William’s parents were of him. The parents threw William a great party afterwards at the Spanish Hills Country Club, where I’ve had the chance to film before. William chose a masquerade theme for his big day and his guests got to enjoy a fortune teller, a candy bar, and an ice cream sunday bar. Two of the Laker girls even showed up to dance with the lucky guy! On November 11th, I had the chance to film a wedding at the Center Club in Costa Mesa. Anita and Ben tied the knot with a short, beautiful outdoor ceremony. Afterwards, they held a lovely reception, which was very relaxed – that is until the DJ played Gangam Style and everyone ran out to watch the groom cut a rug on the dance floor.
